A total of 904 secondary school students from Lanzarote & other Canary Islands will participate in the IES Yaiza Triathlon this Friday, starting at 10am from Puerto Calero.

Of the 904 secondary students that are taking part from Lanzarote there are 94 from IES Playa Honda, 84 from IES Yaiza, 82 from IES César Manrique, 70 from IES Blas Cabrera Felipe, 64 from IES Tías, 60 from IES Las Salinas, 59 from IES Altavista, and 55 from IES Las Maretas.

Additionally, there are participants from IES Agustín Espinosa, Colegio Arenas Internacional, CEO Argana, IES Costa Teguise, IES Haría, CEO Playa Blanca, IES San Bartolomé, IES Teguise and IES Tinajo.

In the 25th edition of the IES Yaiza Triathlon there will be various categories for students under 20 years of age with 380 boys who will form 102 male teams, 135 girls for the 36 female teams and 253 participants who form the 65 mixed teams, as well as 40 triathletes in the male individual category and 4 for the female individual.

For participants over 20 years of age, there are 35 men forming 9 male teams, 12 women in the female team category, 33 participants in the mixed teams, and 7 triathletes for the male individual category and 5 in the female individual category.

The participants will gather at IES Yaiza at 8:15am to be welcomed and given their race numbers before heading down to the beach at Puerto Calero to start the swimming part of the race at 10am.

After covering a distance of 800m in the swimming race, they will transition to a short foot race to the Hotel Secrets where they will collect their bikes and start the 8,500-metre cycle race along a dirt track that will end at the football pitch at the IES Yaiza.

Finally, at the football pitch they will take part in a 3,500-metre mixed circuit race before making a final effort for the finish line.
