In addition to the high wind speeds forecast this afternoon, the island will experience a jump in temperatures from tomorrow until Sunday.
Lanzarote will experience winds of up to 90 kph this afternoon, as the island is placed under an amber alert for winds and a yellow alert for rough seas.
An amber alert means that there is a serious risk. Citizens are advised to take precautions, and outdoor activities may be affected. The alerts are in place until 8 am tomorrow morning.
Arrecife Ayuntamiento has already cancelled all outdoor activities today.
Temperatures will remain fresh, staying in the low 20s until tomorrow, when a mini-heatwave is predicted to arrive on the island. The island is likely to experience temperatures of up to 33 degrees Celsius over the next few days, as the heatwave is predicted to continue until the weekend.
