The President of Lanzarote’s Tourist Federation has denied that agreement has been reached on the steep rises in entry fees to Lanzarote’s tourist centres.
Controversy has arisen after a Cabildo press release on Monday claimed that the price rises had been agreed and would be introduced on 1st January. However, the President of the tourist federation, Susana Pérez, yesterday said “There is no agreement, no consensus.”
Pérez claims that her group has demanded that the price rises be introduced gradually, and that multi-ticket vouchers be continued. “The price rises should be staggered over two years, starting in May 2024, not introduced in the middle of a high tourist season” she stated, “A tourist who want to visit all the centres pays €35 for a multi-ticket voucher now, but will have to pay €71 in the New Year”.
Pérez’s statement reflects the views of the Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators of Lanzarote, whose president, Marta Callejo also confirmed that “no agreement” had been reached.
