Another instance of tourists disrespecting Lanzarote’s landscapes has caused controversy.

The Cabildo’s environment department has condemned a video on social media that showed a young woman scrambling up the side of the Volcán de la Corona and then running down, disturbing soil and native plants.

The woman, a participant in a recent endurance race in Haría, has been reported and has removed the videos from her account.

The environment department pointed out that the area was one of the places where the tabaiba, a native euphorbia that is one of Lanzarote’s emblems, was found, and repeated calls for people to respect signs and notices.
