Lanzarote will have a 24-hour centre for victims of sexual violence, the Canarian Government has announced.

Cristian Arceo, the government’s vice-councillor for equality and diversity, said that the process of acquiring furniture and fittings for the centre was already “well-advanced”.

The centre will provide “psychological, legal and social care for victims, family members and the people around them,” said Arceo. They will also be able to “provide support” and offer “information by telephone, telematics and in person, every day of the year”.

Four similar centres offering 24-hour support will also be opened on Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, and La Palma.
