The SIVE radar installation at Guinate has been burned in an act of arson by unknown persons.
The SIVE (Integrated External Vigilance System) is used to detect the arrival of pateras (boats carrying migrants), and the installation at Guinate was due to be launched shortly after several years of delay.
The arsonists forced the door of the building and set the interior ablaze using an accelerant such as petrol.
