The Canarian Government has announced that it will increase tax on sugary soft drinks and vapes next year, in order to “protect the health of citizens”.
Taxes will be increased on reheated tobaccos products, e-cigarettes and vapes, and VAT will be hiked on drinks with added sugar.
On the other hand, VAT will be reduced on transport within the same island, medical supplies, babies’ nappies and veterinary services.
Matilde Asián, Canarian Finance Minister, announced the changes yesterday.
