Playa Blanca is being prepared to receive cruisers by the 2024/25 cruise season, with recent actions by the Cabildo and Yaiza Ayuntamiento aimed at preparing the ground.
The Cabildo will request that Playa Blanca be included in the 2024/25 schedule. Yaiza Mayor Óscar Noda also plans to meet with Canarian Ports and the National Police to discover what types of infrastructure and police presence will be required for cruises to operate.
Meanwhile, Lanzarote’s Overseas Promotion Society will be actively courting cruise operators at various travel fairs in Madrid, Germany, and the USA. The aim is to attract smaller cruisers and “boutique” boats to the southern resort.
The arrival of cruisers at Playa Blanca will also be made easier because Arrecife Ayuntamiento has dropped its opposition to the idea. Arrecife currently receives all cruisers on Lanzarote and had expressed doubts as to whether playa Blanca was fully prepared.
