The Sabroea Lanzarote food festival will return to Teguise after a meeting between the Cabildo President and the Teguise Mayor.

During the meeting roadmap was laid out after listening to the demands of Teguise and La Graciosa, which included the plan to bring Saborea Lanzarote back to Teguise.

Teguise Mayor, Olivia Duque, stated that this is an “example of common sense that Teguise will host the next Sabroea Lanzarote festival, since it was born here and became known internationally.”.

Food fair on the move

The annual Saborea Lanzarote food fair in Teguise had been one of the most notable victims of the Covid pandemic, with safety restrictions making the event impossible to stage since 2019.

In May last year, former Cabildo President, María Dolores Corujo, stated that the event would go ahead but stated that the location “is a subject we haven’t addressed yet. We believe there were sound reasons to hold it on Teguise, but The Saborea Lanzarote project doesn’t belong to a municipality; it belongs to the island, to the restaurants on the island.”

That year the festival was held in Puerto del Carmen and proved a huge success once again.

What do you think? Should the festival be held in Teguise every year, or should it be held in different locations across the island?
