A 59-year-old Belgian resident of the island has died while surfing at Famara.
At 11.30 am on Monday, lifesavers at Famara beach located a surfer whose board had been broken and who had suffered a severe blow to the head.
Attempts to resuscitate the victim by lifesavers and paramedics were unsuccessful.
