The Lanzarote Data Centre have just released tourism figures for March this year, and it’s a good sign of things to come.

A great resource for all things data, the Lanzarote Data Centre have just released March 2022’s tourism numbers and, as it stands, tourism is moving in the right direction. After just over a year of lockdowns and travel restrictions it’s good to see Lanzarote as busy as it is.

Just walking through the most popular tourist resort on Lanzarote, Puerto del Carmen, we can see that things are getting busier and almost seem back to normal at times. What do you think about Lanzarote getting back to its busy self?

The tourist figures for March 2022 are as follows:

Spain – 20,995

Germany – 32,637

Belgium 3,414

France – 15,573

Netherlands – 18,084

Ireland – 5,890

Italy – 10,361

Nordic Countries – 8,253

United Kingdom – 108,708

Other – 10,571

TOTAL (all) – 234,486

To compare these figures to pre-pandemic levels we can look at March 2019’s figures:

Spain – 24,508 (+16%)

Germany – 56,805 (+74%)

Belgium 4,499 (+31%)

France – 12,344 (-20%)

Netherlands – 10,517 (-41%)

Ireland – 23,765 (+303%)

Italy – 5,945 (+42%)

Nordic Countries – 14,085 (+70%)

United Kingdom – 127,918 (+17)

Other – 24,508 (+131%)

TOTAL March 2019 (all) –
295,614 (+26%)

This year the island has seen a month on month increase in tourists with more French and Dutch tourists than seen in March 2019.

The stats are going in the right direction and I’m sure we speak for all our readers when we say that we are looking forward to a hopefully busy summer period on Lanzarote.
