The Canarian Government have planned tests for sending out emergency alerts to mobile phones in the Canary Islands, starting with an alert in Fuerteventura that could also alert Yaiza residents. Yaiza Ayuntamiento have reminded its residents that this alert is just a test and not to be taken seriously.

A cyclist has been taken to the Dr Jose Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife after suffering a head injury at the roundabout before Yaiza yesterday morning.

Yaiza unveiled its famous belén yesterday, the nativity scene with the longest history on the island, and one that many islanders agree is still the most beautiful and poetic of them all.
