The Tabaiba Collective have published a video of a tourist running down the side of the Volcán del Cuervo, right past a sign that forbids visitors from leaving the footpath.
The video shows a young man who has climbed the side of the volcano, leaving several footprints in the ash and picón, before running down again and leaping onto the path. The Tabaiba Collective has called on Cabildo President Oswaldo Betancort to take measures.
The collective had also denounced the “invasion of wet-wipes and tissues” around the volcano and has highlighted the shortage of environmental rangers on the island.
Previous proposals to protect the Volcán and other nearby areas have included the closure of car parks.
