Lanzarote’s iconic sporting and wine tourism event, the Wine Run Lanzarote, has officially opened registration for its 2026 edition. The unique race will once again unfold within the extraordinary protected landscape of La Geria on the weekend of 13 and 14 June.

The event format remains unchanged, with Saturday 13 June dedicated to complementary activities and family-friendly events. The main sporting competitions will then take place on Sunday 14 June. Aspiring participants can now secure their place via the official event website and its dedicated registration platform.

The 2026 programme will maintain its popular range of categories, ensuring broad inclusivity. These include a long race, a short race, a walk, and the Joëlette category, which enables people with reduced mobility to take part.

Cabildo President, Oswaldo Betancort, emphasised the event’s significance, stating that the Wine Run “has returned to its rightful place as an effective event for showcasing to the outside world a model island that protects its landscape, cares for the primary sector, and uses sport as a way of promoting knowledge of the territory.” He highlighted that the race travels through a unique agricultural zone, “that is the result of the work of generations of winegrowers and is now one of Lanzarote’s main heritage assets.”

Samuel Martín, the Minister for Landscape and Food Sovereignty, pointed out that the Wine Run “combines sporting activity, environmental awareness and social action.” He confirmed that a portion of the resources generated by the event is directly allocated to landscape cleaning, conservation work, and solidarity initiatives focused on inclusion and community support.

Óscar Noda, the mayor of Yaiza, noted the event’s local importance, saying the Wine Run “has established itself as one of the major events on the municipality’s sporting and social calendar.” He added, “Uga and La Geria are once again at the centre of an event that generates activity, attracts visitors, and highlights the work linked to the landscape and the wine sector.”

The Wine Run Lanzarote is organised by the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the Yaiza Town Council, and the Regulatory Council of the Lanzarote Wine Designation of Origin, with the support of various public and private entities linked to sports, viticulture, and land management.
