There are currently 140,367 vehicles registered on Lanzarote, 4,000 more than this time last year.
The number of vehicles had grown steadily by about 0.3% each month, to reach its current record figure. Of the 140,000 cars registered, 95,000 are turismos and 31,000 are vans and lorries.
The number of residents on the island with driving licences is around 88,000, indicating the amount of hire cars on the island.
