A 65-year-old paraglider has died after suffering a fall at the Risco de Famara cliffs on Friday afternoon.

According to La Voz, emergency services were alerted shortly after 1pm following multiple calls about the incident.

A helicopter, firefighters, local police officers, and Civil Protection personnel were all dispatched immediately to the remote location.

The helicopter reached the victim first. They confirmed the man had sustained fatal injuries.

The deceased 65-year-old was subsequently transported by helicopter to Lanzarote Airport. There, custody of the body was transferred to the Guardia Civil, who have initiated the corresponding judicial proceedings.
