According to data published by the Lanzarote Data Centre, Lanzarote welcomed over 1 million tourists last year.
2021 saw Lanzarote record an increase of 49% more tourists than 2020. In the first four months of 2021 the island recorded roughly 10,000 – 22,000 tourists per month, but from June onwards the figures jumped to the 100,000s.
October 2021 was the most successful month since the pandemic started, where the island recorded a total of 215,646 tourists.
In terms of where the tourists came from in 2021, tourists from the UK took first place by some margin and accounted for 28% of all tourism (and 37% of international tourism). International tourism accounted for 75% (902,977 total) which was a 36% increase compared to 2020.
