The Lanzarote Cabildo have just announced the dates for this year’s “Música Visual” festival, which returns for the 17th edition.
After two years of absence due to restrictive measures, the “Música Visual” concert returns to celebrate its 17th edition. Starting on the 11th of October there will be 11 days of avant-garde concerts in spectacular natural spaces and unique areas on Lanzarote.
The festival is a benchmark event for contemporary music and other avant-garde artistic experiences, in complete harmony with the island’s wonders, such as Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes, Convento de Santo Domingo and the El Almacén centre.
Festival and director and founder, Ildefonso Aguilar, assures that the festival is a unique alternative to what’s normally on offer on Lanzarote. “After the long hiatus caused by the pandemic, it will take a lot of work to get it up and running again”, Aguilar stated.
Events Programme
The festival will kick off on Tuesday, October 11th, at the CIC El Almacén in Arrecife with local artist Iván Vilella – who will present his project “Ucronías” created especially for the festival.
On the same day the artists Nico Hernández & Simone Marin will take to the stage to show their video and laser mapping project, with synchronised sound.
At 8pm on Thursday, October 13th, the project “O-Janà + Michele Rabbia” will bring together singer Ludovica Manzo, electronic musician/pianist Alessandra Bossa, and percussionist Michele Rabbia, to perform at the Jameos del Agua Auditorium.
At 8pm on Saturday, October 15th, the Convento de Santo Domingo will be the stage for the “We Are (T)here” project, created by Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou, which will combine various sounds to create a unique experience.
The second week of the festival begins with “Electric Amazigh”, a project by Javier Infante & North Sea String Quartet, which will take at 8pm on Thursday, October 20th, in the Jameos del Agua.
“Electric Amagzigh” is the new project from the Dutch jazz string quartet, North Sea String Quartet, and the Canarian guitarist-composer, Javier Infante.
On the last day of the festival, Saturday October 22nd, Norwegian Eivind Aarset will perform at the Jameos del Agua. The guitarist will be joined by Audun Erlien on bass, Erland Dahlen, and Wetle Holte on drums, percussion and electronics.
