“Memorias de un Grillo Blanco” Festival Ends with Mural in Punta Mujeres

The first edition of the “Memorias de un Grillo Blanco” Festival has come to a close with the unveiling of a striking mural in Punta Mujeres.

The mural seeks to reconnect residents with the island’s unique anquialine ecosystems. At its heart is the jameíto (Munidopsis polymorpha), the tiny blind crustacean found only in Lanzarote’s volcanic lava tubes, which serves as the festival’s symbolic ambassador for conservation.

Cabildo President Oswaldo Betancort described these projects as essential for preserving Lanzarote’s unique heritage and passing it on to future generations.

The festival concluded with the unveiling of the mural by acclaimed Canarian artist Matías Mata, better known as Sabotaje al Montaje. The large-scale artwork uses urban art as a platform to promote awareness of Lanzarote’s unique biodiversity and the need to protect its fragile ecosystems.
