Man arrested for mistreating dog

A man has been arrested in San Bartolomé for the presumed mistreatment of a nine-month-old podenco dog.

The man was filmed on Saturday by two passers-by as he hurled the dog into the back of a pick-up truck before tethering it with an extremely short chain.

The onlookers contacted animal welfare association Ademal, who denounced the incident to the Guardia Civil’s nature unit, Seprona. Local police had already confiscated the dog from the owner on Sunday.
