Lanzarote has reinforced its position in the international high-end cruise sector following its participation in Seatrade Cruise Global. The move forms part of a wider strategy to attract higher-value tourism.

During the trade show, the team from SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote held a packed schedule of meetings with cruise lines specialising in boutique and luxury cruises, as well as with travel agencies, tourism marketing companies and international media outlets. These discussions offered an opportunity to highlight the unique attributes of the island, strengthen existing strategic relationships and explore new avenues for collaboration focused on more exclusive and sustainable segments.

The presence at this global event is part of the ongoing drive to diversify and raise the quality of the destination.

Oswaldo Betancort, president of the Lanzarote Cabildo, said: “The commitment to the boutique and luxury cruise segment is part of a clear strategy for the island: prioritising quality over quantity, attracting visitors who are more respectful of the environment, and generating greater economic and social returns for Lanzarote.”

Betancort added: “Being present at international forums such as Seatrade Cruise Global is key to positioning Lanzarote within the sector’s decision-making circles and continuing to move toward a tourism model that is more competitive, sustainable, and aligned with our identity as a destination.”

Héctor Fernández, CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, commented: “The meetings held at Seatrade Cruise Global have been very productive and allow us to continue making progress in attracting higher-value-added tourism, strengthening relationships with key industry operators, and creating new opportunities for the destination.”
