The 69-year-old man who stabbed and killed a 40-year-old man in Playa Blanca last week has been imprisoned without bail.
Emergency services received a call at around 8pm last week, informing them that a man had been attacked in C/El Correillo in the southern resort. However, when they arrived the victim was already dead.
Police have stated they have sufficient evidence to believe they have arrested the perpetrator, and the suspect has confessed to the crime, which he claims was provoked by the alleged theft of a mobile phone.
It is the first case of homicide in Playa Blanca since 2009, when a businessman was stabbed at his home by an employee, allegedly over an unpaid debt.
