With 50 participants of 12 different nationalities, the Handbike race returns to Playa Blanca this Friday and Saturday.

The first challenge that the athletes will face is a 7.5-kilometre-long time trail, along the LZ-701 starting at the Salinas de Janubio and ending at FT in Playa Blanca. The race against the clock begins at 3pm on Friday with athletes setting off every 30 seconds.

On Saturday the 12th the race route finds itself running right through the town. Starting at 11am, the 2.2km race is a test of endurance to which athlete can complete the greatest number of laps in 55 minutes.

Athletes will be separated into different categories from H0 to H5 depending on level of disability.

Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, stated “The Yaiza Ayuntamiento are committed to hosting inclusive sports and, with the help of Asociación Lanzarote sin Barreras, we promote the benefits of the municipality.”

Yaiza Sports Councillor, Ángel Lago, highlighted that “Yaiza once again becomes the epicenter of island sports and we are pleased to accommodate different types of sport, and this competition specifically for those that overcome adversities.”
