Endesa is moving forward with an investment of more than €8 million to modernise Lanzarote’s power plant. The facility will undergo substantial improvements once the energy company completes the administrative procedures.

The project focuses on one of the plant’s two gas-fired power units, which have been in service since the late 20th century. According to the proposal submitted to the Canarian Government, the work will involve modifications to the turbine and is expected to last up to three months. Key components to be replaced include the turbine’s rotor, its casings, and the control system.

The core project carries a budget of €6.21 million. The remaining funds will cover the transportation of materials to Lanzarote, insurance costs, and the implementation of measures.

The project aims to “ensure the long-term reliable operation of the generator set”, with no changes planned to the plant’s electrical or thermal power capacity.
