Eight new firemen were sworn in yesterday, and will take up positions at the fire station in Arrecife.
Jesús Manuel Mateo, Rubén Callero, Francisco Perdomo, Eduardo Yann, Darío Morales, Néstor Cabrera, Isaac Llamas and Miguel Ángel García were all appointed as public officials after undergoing twelve months of training.
The young recruits were welcomed by Cabildo President María Dolores Corujo, who said it was “a happy day”.
Marcos Bergaz, the Cabildo councillor for Emergencies, saids the recruits were a “breath of fresh air”, and showed “a generation’s commitment to looking after their community and making it a safer place to live.”
