The fire services on Lanzarote carried out 1033 services in 2021. The incidents most reported in 2021 were the extinction of fires (259), traffic accidents (81), rescues (190), Covid-19 disinfections (150) and technical assistance (151).

Compared to data from 2020, demand for the fire service fell by 32%. This was stated this morning during a press conferred at the Lanzarote Cabildo. The Consortium Advisor, Marcos Bergaz, stated “Behind these figures is a great team at the service of Lanzarote’s society 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They carry out a valuable job that ensures the safety of goods and people on our island.”.

The annual report concluded that Arrecife received the most service, followed by Yaiza, Teguise and San Bartolomé.

Container fires increased by 2% compared to 2020, with a total of 62 burned last year.

“The vast majority of these are caused by citizens who dedicate their time to lighting these fires. It should be remembered that the containers cost between €1500 and €2000 depending on the type of container, a price that we all have to pay”, recalled Bergaz.
