After lengthy restoration works, the Castillo de Santa Bárbara project has been completed.

The Mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, visited the Castillo de Santa Bárbara, located on the Guanapay mountain in Villa Teguise, once the most important restoration and heritage recovery project in Lanzarote has been completed.

“After an investment of 1.3 million euros [the restoration is complete], a castle that occupies a notable place in the history of the Canary Islands and in the town of Teguise,” stated Betancort.

In addition to the extensive restoration on the castle’s façade, and on the electrical and plumbing installation, more than 33 floodlights have been installed to indirectly illuminate the building.

The Teguise Ayuntamiento will soon announce when the castle will be open to the public.
