Canarian President Fernando Clavijo has expressed solidarity and support for the victims of yesterday’s horrific train accident in Córdoba.

At the time of writing, 39 deaths have been confirmed in the incident, in which the rear carriages of a train from Malaga to Madrid left the rails, colliding with an oncoming train to Huelva. 75 other passengers have been hospitalised and 12 are in intensive care.

“The Canarian people are with Andalusia at such a difficult moment,” Clavijo said, while recognising the work of the emergency services who are still working at the scene of the accident.
