The Canarian Government’s Tourism Minister, Yaiza Castilla, stated that “our intention is to continue participating in the main European trade fairs, which are the most direct showcase for visitors to learn about new destinations. That is why we have included new events in our calendar in which we believe we can promote the Canaries.”.

For the first time, they will attend the “Lebenslust” fair in October, which is aimed at silver tourism (ages 55 and over).

“They have become a very interesting group”, Castilla added, “let’s not forget that now the so-called baby boomers are starting to retire, so they can consider longer stays in the Canary Islands, where they will come to find good weather that they do not have in other countries.”.

Also in October, they will attend the IGTM Golf fair in Rome to have direct contact with professionals in the world of golf so that they can show what the Canary Islands has to offer golfers.

Additionally, they will attend the Paris fair in September, the Intur fair in Valladolid in November, the “Photo + Adventure” fair and, of course, the London World Travel Market in November.

In closing, Castilla highlighted “the planning of this last four-month period of the year clearly shows our intention to focus on professional events and events open to the general public, that allows us to promote our destinations and that we aren’t merely a sun and beach destination.”.
