Spain’s Meteorological Agency has maintained a yellow weather warning for strong winds and hazardous coastal conditions across Lanzarote for this Sunday, 18 January, and Monday, 19 January.
Residents and visitors can expect predominantly cloudy skies throughout today, Sunday 18th, until the afternoon, bringing occasional and generally light rainfall. Some clear intervals are forecast from the afternoon onwards, although light and isolated showers may still occur. Temperatures will see little change.
The most notable feature of the day will be the wind. It will blow strongly from the northwest from the early hours, with very strong gusts that could reach 80 kilometres per hour in exposed and channelling areas. The wind is expected to shift to the north and gradually ease from the afternoon, though locally intense gusts may persist.
On the coast waves are forecast to reach between 4-5 metres in height.
The public is advised to exercise caution, secure loose outdoor items, and avoid unnecessary travel or coastal activities during this period of adverse weather.
