The Guardia Civil have confirmed that the dead body found washed ashore at Caletón Blanco on Saturday morning was the crew member of the sailing boat that was grounded on rocks in the same place on Friday.
No further details have been released, but the fire station at Arrecife, who searched the boat on Friday, have suspicions that the boat was being used for drug trafficking.
The origin of the boat is also being investigated, given that it had not been registered at any Canarian ports, and the dead crew member appears to be of North African origin.
