Maritime Rescue teams rescued 64 migrants on Wednesday night after locating an inflatable boat several miles east of Lanzarote during its journey from the Moroccan coast.
The operation was carried out by the Salvamar Al Nair, which escorted the group to Puerto Naos in Arrecife, where emergency medical personnel and humanitarian aid workers were waiting to provide assistance.
According to official figures, those on board included 59 men and five women. Among the passengers were 11 unaccompanied minors, all of them boys.
Following their arrival at the dock, one individual was transferred to a medical centre for further assessment, while the remaining occupants received routine health checks and support services.
The vessel was intercepted before reaching Lanzarote, bringing to an end another rescue mission along the Canary Islands migration route, one of the busiest and most closely monitored migration corridors in the Atlantic.
