Work on seven roads in the Las Coloradas area of Playa Blanca is due to begin on Monday, 21st September, as Yaiza launches a €1 million improvement project.

The €1 million project will cover seven roads and includes road reinforcement, resurfacing, new signage and accessibility improvements.

The first phase of the works will take place on Calle Playa de Afre, which will be temporarily closed while construction is carried out. The work is expected to last six days.

The council is asking residents, property owners, businesses and other affected road users to take the temporary disruption into account and to follow all temporary signage and instructions from the construction team.

As part of the programme, work will also be carried out on Avenida Papagayo and on Calle Las Palmeras, Calle Ombú, Calle El Moral, Calle Las Buganvillas and Calle Las Acacias.

Papagayo Avenue works continue

The council is also continuing work on the refurbishment of Avenida Papagayo, Playa Blanca’s main road.

The project is currently in its second phase, covering the section between Calle Maciot and Calle Janubio. This stretch is scheduled to be resurfaced during the week beginning 28th September and will require a temporary road closure.

Once the pavement improvements and accessibility works have been completed, the project will move on to resurfacing and new road signage.
