Petrol and diesel prices on Lanzarote have shot up owing to the US/Israeli war on Iran and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

A litre of petrol is now €1.49 on average, compared to €1.14 a year ago – a rise of almost 30%. Diesel has increased even more, rising by 38% to €1.60.

The price increases can be tracked almost exactly to the middle-east conflict, and were holding steady or even falling slightly before it started on February 28th.

Price comparison sites indicate that the cheapest fuel on the island continues to be sold at the Plenergy self-service stations in Arrecife.
