Arrecife’s annual jolatero race will take place today at Arrecife’s Charco de San Ginés at 1.30 pm.
The traditional event sees children racing small tin boats that have been made out of oil drums. They are paddled with flip-flops, pieces of wood or bare hands.
The event will be followed at 2pm by the cucaña marina – another competition in which youngsters try to grab a flag from the end of a greased pole projecting over the water.
