The Cabildo has announced that works to improve the grounds of Lanzarote Airport are likely to begin in June and be finished early next year.
Barriers will be placed to prevent rains from washing earth into the road, but also to prevent cars from parking along the sides of approach roads to the airport, which has been happening for several years owing to AENA’s refusal to provide free parking spaces for airport employees.
The bridge beneath the main road will be renovated, with engravings in the Libyco-Berber script that has been found in several ancient sites on the island. The verges and banks by the road will also be renovated and planted with native plants.
The “wind toy” that stood on the airport’s roundabout will also finally be returned, after it was removed ten years ago.
