The 2025 edition of the Yaiza Naturaleza Sonora has drawn to a close, culminating last Saturday with a poignant performance by the duo Lula Mora in Playa Blanca.
From July to December, the project transformed six spectacular locations across the municipality, including Uga, La Degollada, El Golfo, Las Casitas, and Las Breñas, into natural auditoriums, much to the delight of audiences.
Against the dramatic backdrop of the Atlantic and the distant silhouette of Fuerteventura, musicians Sara Caride and Silvia Izquierdo weaved a powerful tapestry of sound and verse. Their performance resonated with deep reflections on contemporary reality, using the sea as a central metaphor. The music and poetry navigated the contrasts between the ocean’s inspiring beauty and its harsh role in the journeys of migrants, transporting listeners through the contradictions of joy and sorrow, and questioning models of development versus mass tourism.
Performing songs from their first album, Lula Mora created a compelling cultural bridge between Galicia and the Canary Islands. Their set was hailed as a wonderful surprise, offering art that is deeply committed to social consciousness.
Councillor for Culture, César Rijo, reflected on the series, valuing “the musical diversity of Yaiza Naturaleza Sonora and the alternative concept of rediscovering everyday places through artistic creation, which we begin to see with new eyes.”
Mayor Óscar Noda highlighted the broader vision, stating, “the wide and constant cultural offering of Yaiza is a pillar of development and social cohesion in our municipality.”
