The Canarian Government’s Ecological Transition Department has approved the widening of the LZ-40 road leading from the airport to Puerto del Carmen.
The favourable environmental report means that one of the first stages of the project has been passed. Turning the LZ-40 into a double carriageway is one of the main road-building projects planned for next year, with €4 million funds earmarked for the works in the regional government’s recent budget.
Councillor Mariano Zapata of the Canarian Government explained that “the widening is being carried out on an existing road and within the same road corridor, without occupying protected land, nor damaging nature or the landscape, so the impact is considered null both during the construction phase and during operation.”
