The search for the young surfer who went missing off Famara beach on Sunday afternoon continued without success yesterday.
Two rescue helicopters searched the coast with members of the Guardía Civil, Lanzarote’s fire brigade and Civil Protection workers in an attempt to locate the 28-year-old Indian man. The search has extended to Fuerteventura owing to the strong currents along the north coast of Lanzarote.
The young man went missing after he and two other surfers were caught up in a strong current on the eastern end of the beach. Another surfer drowned in the tragedy and a third man managed to reach land unharmed and report the missing man.
The search will continue today.
