AEMET, Spain’s weather agency, has issued a yellow alert for calima conditions (dust in the air).

Visibility is forecast to be reduced to 3,000 metres and high-lying south-facing zones are expected to be worst-affected. Temperatures will be in the high 20s during daylight hours, with the possibility of maximum temperatures reaching 30 degrees Celsius.

The warning commenced at 8 am this morning (Sunday 7th September) and currently extends to midnight tomorrow (Monday 8th).

Yellow is the lowest level of warning, requiring citizens only to remain informed. However, vulnerable individuals and their carers may want to follow recommendations to remain indoors and close windows and doors.
