One in five flat seekers in the Canaries are foreign nationals, according to a recent report by Spain’s Idealista website.
In the Las Palmas province, where Lanzarote is located, 19.2% of all those seeking to rent an apartment are of foreign nationality, while in Santa Cruz de Tenerife it is 21.9%. Only the Balearics (29%), Alicante (27.4%) and Málaga (25.7%) have a higher proportion of foreign flat hunters in Spain.
In the Canaries, Germans head the list of foreign flat seekers, with a quarter (25%) of all visitors to Canarian rental property listings. They are followed by Italians (18%) and British (7%).
