Support for mass tourism demonstration grows

Several ecological organisations have added their support to the mass tourism demonstration that will take place in Arrecife on Saturday.

ADACIS, Desert Watch, Ecologists in Action Lanzarote, PANTHALASSA, SEO/BirdLife and the WWF issued a joint communiqué supporting the aims of the march, and said “While we are not against tourism as an economic sector, we demand  a radical and immediate change of the current model from the authorities.”

In recent days the Podemos political party and the CGT trade union have also added their support to the march.

More surprisingly, the Coalicion Canaria, the party who have led the Canarian Government for 26 of the last 30 years, have “supported the spirit” of the demonstration while pleading that it “not be politicized.”
