Las Grietas safety study

Tías Mayor José Juan Cruz has announced that a study will be carried out into safety at Las Grietas before action is taken to protect the zone from tourism.

Answering questions on Radio Lanzarote, the Mayor said that the area cannot maintain the number of tourists it is currently receiving. “This is not a visitor’s centre,” he said.

Cruz said that, once the safety report had been carried out, action would be taken to renovate and signpost the path. He also stated that Tías had requested that the island’s Cabildo and Tourist Board stop publicizing the area as a tourist attraction.
