The population of the Canary Islands increased by 1.03% last year, gaining 23,000 new residents. The total population of the islands is currently 2,236,013.

46.4% of the new residents were foreigners. Of all the islands, Lanzarote has the second-highest foreign population after Fuerteventura, with 24% of residents hailing from other countries.

Although specific nationality figures for 2023 are not yet available, it is likely that the British will remain the most numerous foreign community on Lanzarote, followed by Colombians, Italians and Moroccans.
