Living on local produce has been a strong trend in food for years, giving rise to “locavores” and the Km 0 movement. Here’s our list of the top 10 Lanzarote products and a menu for the day made entirely from local produce.
A locally sourced diet is about as healthy as can be imagined, but it also means giving up some of the food and drink you rely most on.
OUR TOP 10
1. Sweet potatoes: Lanzarote’s are the best in the world.
2. Goat’s cheese: From mild, sweet queso fresco to matured older cheese, this is another star product. See the link at the bottom of the page to learn about how Lanzarote’s goats cheese is made.
3. Organic honey: Sourced from local producers, Lanzarote honey is unique and very tasty.
4. Tuna: Firm, meaty tuna steaks are one of Lanzarote’s summer highlights.
