A tourist ferry to the Isle of Lobos sank yesterday afternoon while carrying 47 passengers and five crew members. All were safely evacuated.
El Majorero, one of the ferries that regularly takes tourists from Corralejo in Fuerteventura to the Isla de Lobos, sank at 2.25 pm yesterday after its glass-bottom broke on rocks near the shore of Lobos.
Another ferry, the Célia Cruz, arrived to rescue the passengers and crew, some of whom continued to Lobos, while others returned to Corralejo.
