The Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, used the official opening of Playa Blanca’s port extension to call for cruise ships to be allowed to dock at the resort.
The port is prepared to receive small and medium-size cruisers, but island plans would need to be amended before cruisers could dock at Playa Blanca. There has also been opposition to the idea from Arrecife – currently the only cruise stop on the island.
Noda called upon the audience, which included Canarian President Ángel Victor Torres and Cabildo President María Dolores Corujo, to show the same collaboration on this issue as they had shown during the building of the extension.
