Almost 100,000 voters are registered on the electoral roll in Lanzarote. This means that participation in next May’s local and regional elections could be the highest ever.
99,800 voters are registered in the island’s seven municipalities, an increase of over 2,000 on figures before the pandemic. Teguise, Haría, Tinajo and San Bartolomé have all seen voter numbers rise, while there has been a small drop in Arrecife and Tías.
British and EU residents will have the right to vote for their local Ayuntamientos (councils) and are advised to ensure they are registered on the electoral roll as early as possible at their local Town Hall.
