All restrictions on travel to the UK, including the requirement to fill in a passenger locator form (PLF) and the requirement for unvaccinated travellers to be tested, will be scrapped from Friday, the UK government has announced.
Yesterday afternoon, UK Transport Minister Grant Shapps tweeted “All remaining Covid travel measures, including the Passenger Locator Form and tests for all arrivals, will be stood down for travel to the UK from 4am on 18 March. These changes are possible due to our vaccine rollout and mean greater freedom in time for Easter.”
The announcement will be good news for thousands of holiday makers on Lanzarote, who have previously had to arrange the PLF in the final days of their holiday.
Ireland scrapped travel restrictions, including its PLF on Sunday, following the example of other countries such as Greece, Israel and Norway.
Entry to Spain, however, will still require the completion of the FCS health control form and downloading of the resulting QR code. This process can be done in English at spth.gob.es.
Currently, Spain still does not permit the entry of unvaccinated third country nationals for travel purposes – a category which includes British tourists. The only exception applies to children between the ages of 12 and 18 who have a negative test result.
