Car numbers rise

The number of vehicles on Lanzarote continues to increase, with 136,787 motor vehicles registered on the island – the highest figure in history.

Public Holidays 2023

As usual, there will be 14 public holidays next year. Eight are national, and cannot be changed. Four are decided by the Canarian Government (one of which is an island holiday), and the remaining two are fixed by local councils. Here is the list:

Plane stops on runway

Yesterday a plane had to be towed off the runway at the Lanzarote airport after its undercarriage failed to function properly.

Windy days

Crosswinds caused a Ryanair plane to abort a landing at Lanzarote Airport yesterday. The aircraft managed to land successfully on the second approach.

Ten tons of bottletops

10,000 kilogrammes of plastic bottle tops have been collected by Lanzarote schoolchildren this year, and will go towards helping children with special needs.
